PUNCH NEEDLE EMBROIDERY

Intro to punch needle embroidery. All materials included with a step by step intro to materials and tools.

Artist Caroline Coates will demo simple punch needle techniques to create your own piece of textile art

Choose from templates or create your own design.

CONTEMPORARY PATCHWORK QUILTING (3 week course)
Location: Bolton

Thursday 11th, 18th and 25th April 6.00 - 8.30pm

Have you always fancied learning how to patchwork quilt but don’t know where to start? Join tutors Nichola Smith and Jennifer Gilmour for this 3-week patchwork and quilting course where you were learn the skills to start making your own patchwork quilt and take away a one-of-a-kind cushion.

We have 5 sewing machines and a full class set of tools, loads of fabric and all the trimmings. You don’t need to bring anything unless you want to. We know some of you may be collecting fabrics that you would like to use- we both have a stockpile.

You may have your own sewing machine that you would like to bring so you can learn how to use it for patchwork quilting. For this reason, we have two types of tickets. If you want to use your own machine and fabric there is a £10 discount. If you want to turn up and use ours, we have put a small fee for the fabric.

SILK PAINTING

NEEDLE FELTING ANIMALS

Ready to get violent with a needle and some fibres? Then enter the wonderful world of needle-felted animals with Caroline Coates from Creative Coati.

With each stab of the needle, the fibres catch, twist and snarl and from this violence might emerge a buzzing bee, festive robin or delicate mouse.

Caroline will show you how to needle felt step by step to create a stunning animal figure, meticulously sculpted from felt, transforming a material so soft into something solid, structured and with intricate detail.

You will be amazed at the results you can achieve in just a few hours and will go away with a creation to be proud of (you may also release some tension in the process)!

Explore the wonders of eco-friendly jesmonite and create your own jewellery and trinket tray with artist and maker Caroline Coates from Creative Coati using a variety of geometric moulds. Jesmonite is a versatile material that will create a different outcome every time - you'll learn how to weigh it, mix it, add colours and textural effects to create something unique to you.

Caroline will share tips, trade secrets and techniques to achieve a perfect finish, using jewellery findings to complete your compositions (all materials provided).

RESIN JEWELLERY (2 part course)

Sunday 23rd June and Sunday 30th June 2.00 - 4.00pm

Put a totally new twist on tiny keepsakes, shiny trinkets and make mini works of modern art by preserving them forever in gorgeously modern hand crafted pieces of resin jewellery.

Over two sessions Caroline Coates from Creative Coati will teach you how to mix, pour and cast the resin choosing from our range of mini moulds, giving a new lease of life to any personal mementos you bring along. Showcase buttons and pearls, photos and text, fragments of old letters, maps, flags, scrabble letters – the list is endless and anything goes!

You’ll make five pieces and you can choose from a pendant necklace, a pair of earrings, brooch, ring, magnet or keyring. Then in the second part of the course, get to grips with basic jewellery making techniques and how to turn your creations into wearable pieces.
