ARM KNITTED BLANKET
Location: Eccles
Saturday 7th December
Come and join Caroline Coates from Creative Coati for a super satisfying arm knitting workshop and take home your own super chunky, snuggly blanket! This class is suitable for total beginners – no knitting or crafting experience is required. You’ll be taught how to use your arms as knitting needles and you’ll create your whole blanket before the workshop has ended.
Your finished blanket will measure approximately 150cm x 80cm. The exact size will vary depending on the tension of your yarn and the size of your stitches. This is what makes every blanket so unique. We will teach you how to cast on, knit the stitches, cast off and how to keep your blanket in tip top condition.
RESIN JEWELLERY
(2 PART COURSE)
Location: Bamber Sewing Machines, Eccles
Saturdays 16th & 23rd November
Put a totally new twist on tiny keepsakes, shiny trinkets and make mini works of modern art by preserving them forever in gorgeously modern hand crafted pieces of resin jewellery.
Over two sessions Caroline Coates from Creative Coati will teach you how to mix, pour and cast the resin choosing from our range of mini moulds, giving a new lease of life to any personal mementos you bring along. Showcase buttons and pearls, photos and text, fragments of old letters, maps, flags, scrabble letters – the list is endless and anything goes!
You’ll make five pieces and you can choose from a pendant necklace, a pair of earrings, brooch, ring, magnet or keyring. Then in the second part of the course, get to grips with basic jewellery making techniques and how to turn your creations into wearable pieces.
3D NEEDLE FELTED ANIMALS
Location: Humbug Art, Eccles
Sunday 1st December
Ready to get violent with a needle and some fibres? Then enter the wonderful world of needle-felted animals with Caroline Coates from Creative Coati.
With each stab of the needle, the fibres catch, twist and snarl and from this violence might emerge a buzzing bee, festive robin or delicate mouse.
Caroline will show you how to needle felt step by step to create a stunning animal figure, meticulously sculpted from felt, transforming a material so soft into something solid, structured and with intricate detail.
You will be amazed at the results you can achieve in just a few hours and will go away with a creation to be proud of (you may also release some tension in the process)!
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners or for those looking to refresh their skills.
